Elast-Eon™ technology
is the product of a decade of fundamental research into biologically stable
materials by the Molecular Science Division of the Commonwealth Scientific
and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) in Melbourne, Australia.
|
 |
The copolymer materials
that have been developed exhibit many of the advantageous properties of
flexible polyurethane elastomers and silicone rubber. That is, they offer
outstanding physical and mechanical properties while retaining biological
stability and compatibility.
|

|
AorTech has focused
its recent activities on establishing applications for the first generation
Elast-Eon™ technology. These applications have predominantly been
in critical, long-term implantable life supporting devices in the fields
of cardiovascular surgery, interventional cardiology, drug-eluting stents and cardiac rhythm management.
|
These partnerships have all been characterized
by our Melbourne-based technical organization acting as an extension of
the partner's device development team.
The next generation
of Elast-Eon™ products has been developed within the framework of
a strategic alliance with the Molecular Science Division of the Commonwealth
Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO). These materials
technologies are suitable for a range of therapy areas in orthopaedics
and plastic surgery, as well as additional applications within the markets
mentioned above.
